Los Angeles, July 2026 — Federal authorities have launched a sweeping crackdown on transnational organized crime, unsealing three major indictments that expose a vast network of violence, extortion, and drug trafficking operating out of India, across North America, and into Europe.
The Operation: Dismantling a Global Enterprise
Following a multi-year investigation, the FBI and federal law enforcement have arrested 24 defendants and executed dozens of search warrants across the United States. The operation targeted three distinct criminal syndicates, including organizations led by notorious figures such as Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.
These groups have been accused of orchestrating a campaign of terror that includes racketeering, kidnapping, and the large-scale distribution of narcotics, specifically flooding California communities with massive quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine.
Targeted Violence as a Business Model
The indictments detail a brutal business model where high-profile violence is used to legitimize and enforce extortion schemes.
- Political Assassinations: Prosecutors allege that leaders Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar directed the 2023 assassination of a prominent Sikh leader in Canada.
- Intimidation: Victims, particularly within communities with ties to India, were routinely targeted. Gang members obtained personal information on victims and their families, threatening physical harm or death if extortion demands were not met.
- Global Reach: The criminal reach extended beyond borders, with leaders managing operations from jail cells in India while recruiting vulnerable populations and minors to minimize their own criminal exposure.
Corruption and the “Police Chief” Fugitive
The investigation revealed a disturbing level of institutional corruption. According to court documents, these criminal enterprises frequently partnered with corrupt law enforcement officials in India to harass their enemies. One defendant, identified as a police chief in India, remains a primary target for the FBI, which is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest for attempting to extort victims in Los Angeles through threats of filing false murder charges.
A Message to Transnational Networks
During the announcement, federal officials made their stance clear: the United States will not tolerate the use of American soil for foreign-directed violence. The task force, which includes the Los Angeles Homeland Security unit, successfully seized over 1,000 kilograms of drugs and dozens of weapons.
While many key lieutenants are now in custody, the search continues for top-level leadership. The FBI is actively seeking the whereabouts of Satinderjit Singh, also known as Goldy Brar. Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
