CUPERTINO, California – Apple has officially ushered in a new era of personal technology, centering its latest product launch on “Apple Intelligence.” At the high-profile “It’s Glowtime” event held at Apple Park, CEO Tim Cook revealed the iPhone 16 lineup, marking the company’s first devices built from the ground up for generative artificial intelligence.
The Intelligence Revolution The centerpiece of the announcement was the integration of Apple Intelligence across the entire iPhone 16 series. Powered by the new A18 and A18 Pro chips, these features include a significantly more capable Siri, AI-driven writing tools for Mail and Messages, and “Genmoji”—a tool allowing users to create custom emojis via text prompts. A new “Visual Intelligence” feature was also showcased, allowing users to point their camera at a storefront or object to instantly retrieve details, such as restaurant hours or event dates.
Hardware Overhaul: iPhone 16 and 16 Pro The standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models received notable design updates, including a vertical camera layout to support spatial video capture for the Apple Vision Pro. Both models now feature the customizable Action button and a brand-new “Camera Control” button—a tactile, sapphire-crystal-covered sensor on the side of the device that allows users to slide their finger to adjust zoom, exposure, and depth of field.
The flagship iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max have grown in size, featuring 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays respectively, with the thinnest bezels on any Apple product to date. Encased in Grade 5 Titanium, the Pro series introduces “Desert Titanium” and boasts a 48MP Ultra Wide camera, alongside 4K 120fps Dolby Vision video recording—the highest resolution and frame rate ever on an iPhone.
Wearables and Audio The Apple Watch Series 10 stole the spotlight in the wearables category, featuring a thinner design and a larger, wide-angle OLED display that surpasses even the Apple Watch Ultra in screen real estate. Notably, Apple introduced sleep apnea detection, pending FDA clearance, alongside a new polished Titanium finish.
In audio, the AirPods 4 were unveiled in two versions, including a first-of-its-kind open-ear model with Active Noise Cancellation. Apple also announced a major health milestone for the AirPods Pro 2, which will soon function as a clinical-grade, over-the-counter hearing aid via a software update.
Availability The iPhone 16 lineup starts at $799, with the Pro models beginning at $999. Pre-orders begin this Friday, with devices hitting store shelves on September 20.
